After the Farm, you’ll have to buy the ZooPedia in order to know every pattern, or keep trying, failing, and writing it down when the game flashes you the pattern after you fail. Output: a 5x5 grid made of X or O where X marks an optimum strategy. Disco Zoo makes you try to find a certain pattern of animal squares in order to rescue each animal in the game. Input: Either a pattern made of X and O or the name of the animal. Feel free to look at them but you're not allowed to hard-code them. The wiki also lists optimum strategies for all the animals. The Disco Zoo wiki's Patterns page lists all the animals and their patterns. A strategy is a set of blocks from the 5x5 grid an optimum strategy is one which guarantees to find at least 1 block from the pattern, and where there is no strategy with fewer blocks which can make the same guarantee.įor sheep and unicorns the optimum strategy would be searching the middle column: ooXoo The user gives you a pattern or the name of an animal (your choice) and you have to generate an optimum strategy to search for that animal/pattern. If you just want to send the odd fax or are in a hurry to fax something, these services are perfect for occasional faxing. The apps featured here are not suitable for businesses for the following reasons: However, if you’re going to be regularly sending faxes from your Mac or have a small business, we strongly recommend reading our guide to the best fax apps for Mac which looks at professional solutions such as the excellent RingCentral. Most free fax services work by either inserting ads into your faxes or by asking you to sign-up and hoping you’ll subscribe to extra features such as the ability to receive faxes, add multiple addresses, international faxing etc.Ad supported services such as FaxZero may therefore not be suitable for professional purposes. Most free fax services only allow you to send faxes for free, not receive faxes for free. You may have to wait several minutes before you receive email confirmation that your fax is sent. Free faxes are not always sent over an encrypted connection so if this is important to you, check with the provider first. If you want to receive faxes you will have to pay or subscribe to the service instead. With these things in mind, here are 5 services to fax for free from a Mac.įaxZero is a basic and easy to use ad-supported fax service with which you can send free faxes of no longer than 3 pages plus cover sheet and no more than 5 faxes per day. The only condition is that FaxZero inserts a small ad on the cover page. Free faxes are also limited to the US and Canada only. You can attach up to 3 files in DOC, DOCX or PDF format but it also supports other formats such as XLS, TXT, PNG and even VSD for those that want to attach Visio diagrams.įor an extra $1.99, you can send 25 faxes which get priority delivery, no FaxZero branding and you can opt to remove the cover page. You can also send international faxes but this costs anything from $1.99 per fax upwards (maximum 25 pages).įax Zero is easy to use but the biggest drawback is how long it takes to send faxes. Once you’ve written your fax and uploaded any documents, after you click send you must wait for a link that’s emailed to you. This can take over 10 minutes and it’s only when you click on the email link that the fax is sent. PamFax allows you to send 3 pages for free from your computer and then a very reasonable $0.11 per page after that for zone one regions. There are no upfront costs, no ads inserted into faxes and no monthly charges. The free version does not however support receiving faxes, email faxing or faxing to multiple recipients but you can get these features if you sign-up for a free PamFax account. You can send faxes in various ways using PamFax. You can use the web interface but the best thing to do for Mac users is download the PamFax Mac client from the Mac App Store. The emitter voltage is much positive with respect to base and collector. Here if you observe, the base current flows out of the base unlike NPN transistor. This transistor mainly consists of 3 terminals and they are Emitter (E), Collector (C) and Base (B). The above figure shows the structure and symbol of PNP Transistor. The symbol and structure for PNP transistor is shown below. But the characteristics and operation of the PNP transistor is almost same as NPN transistor with small differences. The structure of PNP transistor is completely opposite to the NPN transistor. In PNP transistor this arrow indicates as ‘pointing in’ and the current direction in PNP is completely opposite to the NPN transistor. The arrow for BJT transistors is always located on the emitter terminal and also it indicates the direction of conventional current flow. The small base current in the PNP has the ability to control the large emitter-collector current because it is a current-controlled device. In PNP, the current sinks in to the base terminal. All the supply voltage polarities applied to the PNP transistor are reversed. In PNP transistor, the majority current carriers are holes and electrons are the minority current carriers. The two PN-junction diodes in the PNP transistor structure are reversed with respect to the NPN transistor, such as the two P-type doped semiconductor materials are separated by a thin layer of N-type doped semiconductor material. The structure of the PNP transistor is completely different from the NPN transistor. PNP transistor is another type of Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT). In the first section of this code sample ( 1), you can see that the connection to the SAMPLE database is defined and opened. (It provides IntelliSense links to the underlying database schema, collapsible regions, syntax colorization, and more.) I included the code snippet so that you could copy and paste the code for yourself.Īn example of this code in the integrated DB2 SQL editor for Visual Studio. This will also enable common language runtime (CLR) stored procedures – supported in the DB2 UDB product since September 2004 – to return multiple result sets too.Ĭoncurrent data reader capability is not just limited to the DB2 UDB product running on Linux, UNIX, or Windows operating systems. Quite simply, this feature delivers the capability for your applications to have multiple DB2DataReader objects open on a connection at the same time when each instance of the DB2DataReader is started from a separate command. Prior to V8.2.2, each database connection could only support one open result set on a connection at any one time. The concurrent data reader support in DB2 UDB enables an application to access more than one result set over the same database connection and query them concurrently. Of course, I will give the usual advice about holding any locks held until a statement is closed, but that is business-as-usual and not specific to using multiple active statements at the same time.Ĭoncurrent Data Readers in DB2 UDB Version 8.2.2 or later However, in the DB2 UDB case, associated overhead seems very limited in my tests. Keep in mind that this capability is not a panacea: there are costs to having multiple statements executing. The CLI, JDBC, and SQLJ interfaces in DB2 UDB, for example, have had this support for years. In fact, enabling this feature in DB2 UDB was as simple as removing the client side restriction that stood in the way of externalizing this support. To enable this support in DB2 UDB, the IBM development teams did not have to address the same limitations that the Microsoft teams apparently faced, so they could deliver this feature quickly in response to customer demand. This implementation was done by adding an abstract layer (session) between the connection and the statement, which may indicate a potential overhead cost to having multiple sessions opened. feature) to enable multiple statements on a single connection. In SQL Server 2005, Microsoft appears to have changed their model (with their M.A.R.S. If you exceeded this restriction, an open cursor would block out all other statements, not just other cursors. SQL Server 2000 has been unable to have more than a single statement open at a time on a connection. Given the nature of SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements, it is easier to have multiple cursors open where the application can alternate fetches between two cursors to show they are concurrent. The type of statement is irrelevant (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE). MARS is actually more than this, but this is the crux of the new feature scheduled for SQL Server 2005.Īll the DB2 UDB family servers have fully supported having multiple statements open per connection for a very long time. Microsoft refers to what I am calling Concurrent Data Readers as Multiple Active Result Sets (MARS). This sounds a lot like Multiple Active Results Sets (MARS) support SQL Server 2005 release… How did DB2 UDB manage to do this so early? In this article, I want to introduce you to this new feature and show you some sample code that you can use to deliver this powerful functionality to your DB2 UDB applications. You can download this product, which came out in April 2005, at. Since its Version 8.2.2 release, also known as Fix Pack 9, the IBM DB2 Universal Database product (DB2 UDB) has provided the capability for a concurrent data reader to access more than one result set in the same database connection and query both of those result sets concurrently. Test 1: Recover data from hard drive (using Recover Files) Let’s see if Remo Recover will pass our tests. For the Media version, I’ll be using a Sandisk 32GB SD card with over 1000+ photos and about 10GBs worth of. These files will be used for the first and last feature. I selected a number of different files that I will then delete. Each version also has the features of the version before it. While the Pro version gives you access to do a deep scan of your drives. The Media version is best for recovering photos, videos, and audio. The Basic version gives you full access to the Recover Files option, which does a quick scan of your drive and restores whatever files are found. We were given license keys for the Basic, Media, and Pro versions. To have the program activated, simply click Register at the top right and either enter a license key or access your RemoONE account. We’ll tackle each of these with their own specific scenarios. There are 3 recovery options to choose from: recover files, recover photos, and recover drives. Putting Remo Recover in Testing Remo Recover Windows Reviewįor this test, we’ll try out each feature of Remo Recover and see how well it works. If the program worked terribly, it’d be part of the review. They had no editorial input in the content of this review whatsoever. Rest assured that even our review remains unbiased. I even tested their support team by sending them an email about the problems I had during the review.ĭisclaimer: Remo Recover has offered us NFR codes to test the different versions of their software. I will guide you through how to recover the important files using Remo Recover, that have been accidentally deleted. I’m here to share what works, what doesn’t, and what could be improved based on my experience with other similar products. I’ve tried out Remo Recover for Windows, Mac, and Android for a couple of days to share what I learned from the program and if it works as it is advertised. The great thing is that I was able to try out a number of data recovery tools and have ample knowledge of what I want from them. I’ve corrupted hard drives and lost tons of files. There are times when my curiosity gets the best of me and I end up making things worse than before I started. My curiosity for hardware and software brings me to the very core of the products. I’m the type of guy who likes to tinker with technology. Difficult to locate specific files amongst thousands of deleted files found after scan. What I Don’t Like: Very long scanning times. You can save recovery sessions to load on another date. Was able to retrieve a lot of deleted files to a usable state. Varying software versions depending on your recovery needs. What I Like: Lots of easy-to-follow instructions from start to finish. Also, we recommend you skip the Basic version and go for Media or Pro version directly. Thus we believe the program is better at retrieving data from a smaller-volume drive. However, we found that Remo Recover did a fantastic job of recovering files from an SD card. This made it almost impossible to find the specific files I was looking for. Most of the files lost their file names and were renamed by file number. The Pro version took a long time to scan a 1TB hard drive and found over 200,000 files. The Media version was able to find around 30 GBs of photos with about 85% of the files deleted still usable. The Media and Pro versions did a much better job. Sadly, it wasn’t able to find the specific files I deleted for the test. The Basic version simply does a quick scan of the storage device and tries to recover files. Most of us still live in the PC world and use the Windows operating system.įor Windows, there’s a Basic, Media, and Pro version available. We tried out all three versions, but for the sake of the length, this review will focus on the Windows version. Remo Recover is a data recovery program for Windows, Mac, and Android. As a child, he attended a number of boarding schools in the Northeast. Peter Fonda was born in New York City on Feb. “Most people can’t hang in with me,” he said in a 1997 interview. In the years before Ulee’s Gold, he had become a cinematic recluse, living in Livingston, where he had two ranches and 300 acres and rejoiced in the solitude. Rebecca convinced Fonda to move to Livingston, Mont., where they settled into a community at times populated by Jeff Bridges, Sam Peckinpah and other artistic off-roaders. McGuane went on to marry actress Margot Kidder, who also was in the movie. He also starred in Thomas McGuane’s 92 in the Shade (1975), where he met Portia Rebecca Crockett then the wife of the writer-director, she divorced him that year and quickly married Fonda. His other acting stints were uneven, from the lowbrow The Cannonball Run (1981) to a German impressionistic film, Peppermint Freiden (1983). In the early ’80s, Fonda appeared in a humdrum batch of projects: He played as charismatic cult leader in Split Image (1982), a freewheeling adventurer in Dance of the Dwarfs (1983) and a suicidal father in the 1985 NBC movie A Reason to Live. “I was writing during that period, and I got about as much writing done as a child in a sandbox,” he told the Los Angeles Times in 1984. He directed and starred opposite Brooke Shields in Wanda Nevada (1979), which featured a cameo by his father.įor a period after Easy Rider, Fonda lived on an 82-foot sailboat, essentially having dropped out. He then helmed Idaho Transfer (1973), a message film about the environment. Nearly 30 years after Easy Rider, Fonda’s performance in Ulee’s Gold (1997) as a beekeeper and sullen Vietnam War veteran whose family had nearly fallen apart earned him a best actor Oscar nom.įonda followed up Easy Rider by starring and directing The Hired Hand (1971), a feminist Western that his Pando Company made for Universal. With his cool shades, leather jacket with the flag stitched on back, he sat perched atop a chrome-laden, high-handle-bar cycle, and the poster for the film was ubiquitous in college dorms in 1969 and the early ’70s.Īs a symbol for rebellious youth, Fonda, along with Mick Jagger, Jimi Hendrix, Muhammad Ali and John Lennon, were among the most revered of countercultural poster boys. To a generation of young people, Fonda was “Captain America” and a poster-boy for the age. It won a standing ovation at Cannes and the festival’s best director award. Fonda co-starred in HBO’s “The Laramie Project,” based on the murder of gay college student Matthew Shepard. For the cataclysmic year of 1969, Easy Rider was a road movie that accomplished cinematically what Jack Kerouac’s On the Road did for literature. He published a 1998 memoir, “Don’t Tell Dad,” and appeared in some notable television movies and miniseries, including NBC’s “The Tempest,” and the Showtime telefilm “The Passion of Ayn Rand,” opposite Helen Mirren, winning the Golden Globe for outstanding supporting actor in a miniseries or movie made for television. His first acting Oscar nomination came at 57, for his portrayal of a laconic beekeeper in “Ulee’s Gold.” Other late-inning successes include James Mangold’s western “3:10 to Yuma,” Steven Soderbergh’s “The Limey” and “Ocean’s Twelve,” and 2017’s “The Ballad of Lefty Brown.” He most recently starred in Shana Feste’s road movie “Boundaries” opposite Christopher Plummer. 45” and “Nadja.” He popped in both Alison Anders’ “Grace of My Heart” and John Carpenter’s “Escape from L.A.,” costarring Kurt Russell. And in 1998, “Easy Rider” was added to the National Film Registry, having been deemed “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.”įonda also starred in country music expose “Outlaw Blues” Robert Rossen’s “Lilith” Robert Wise’s “Two People” and cult films “Love and a. The film became a touchstone for the ’60s generation, and won the “best first work” award at the Cannes Film Festival in May 1969. (He got the idea for the film while staring at a poster for “The Wild Angels.”) Fonda starred opposite Nicholson, and wrote the screenplay with Hopper and Terry Southern, which scored them an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. However, Fonda would be best known for another rebel motorcycle movie, Dennis Hopper’s “Easy Rider,” in 1969. They also co-starred in Corman’s 1967 psychedelic film “The Trip.” Koko Da Doll, Star of Trans Doc ‘Kokomo City,’ Dead at 35: Sundance Breakout Found Shot in Atlantaįonda, a graduate of the Roger Corman school that also produced Jack Nicholson and Ron Howard, starred as the leader of a biker gang in Corman’s “The Wild Angels” opposite Bruce Dern in 1966. Select the hamburger menu in the upper-left corner of your screen and choose "Inbox." Open an email you want to add to your priority inbox, tap the menu button in the top-right corner (next to the envelope icon), then choose "Mark important." This will add the email to Important and teach Gmail that emails similar to this one deserve your immediate attention. Step 3: Improve Priority Inbox's Accuracy The opposite is also true - marking messages as not important will help Gmail learn that it shouldn't alert you about them in the future. Since Gmail uses markers to label email as important, by manually labeling emails that didn't show up in Important (and Important and unread), Gmail will learn to add those emails later on. Gmail's machine learning improves over time, but you can also take active steps to make sure the only emails found in your inbox are ones you care to open. Sometimes, these events don't perfectly align with your needs. However, if you decide to star the email, it will move to the Starred folder for easy retrieval.Īs you may have already noticed, Important isn't perfect. Once read, they will move to the Important folder for future access. Factors include the people you email and how often you send messages to them, which emails you previously opened, who you reply to, keywords found within emails you commonly open, and which emails you've starred (versus which are archived or deleted).īased on Gmail's analysis, new messages which are deemed important will be temporarily placed in Important and unread where you will be able quickly read it. Gmail determines which emails to place in Important by analyzing how you interact with your inbox. The Primary, Social, and Promotions tabs will be replaced with four new tabs: Inbox, Important and unread, Starred, and Important. Under the General grouping, choose "Inbox Type," then select "Priority Inbox." Return to your inbox and tap the hamburger menu to see the new tabs. Choose "Settings," then select your email address. To start, open Gmail and tap the hamburger menu in the top-left corner. The remaining emails are left in a general inbox which isn't synced with your mobile device, allowing you to deal with them later. Any email you star will go in the appropriately named Starred folder. Those that are unread are placed in Important and unread, where you'll receive notifications for the new messages. The important ones are placed in the Important folder. Gmail's Priority Inbox analyzes your usage to automatically determine which emails you're likely to care about. Thankfully, Gmail has a feature that can solve this by using machine learning. But if you used your email address to sign up for various sites and services, your inbox is probably cluttered with all sorts of spam, news letters, and unimportant emails.
